Quick Facts about Larnaca

Easy-going and full of charm, Larnaca's the kind of place that draws you in slowly. It doesn't shout for attention, but it knows how to make you feel at home. The palm-lined seafront is the big draw, of course – a proper holiday postcard – but wander a few streets back and you'll find faded facades, quiet tavernas and hidden courtyards where locals swap stories over coffee.

It's one of the oldest cities in Cyprus, and you can feel that sense of history under your feet. The ancient ruins of Kition are just a short walk from the modern promenade, while Hala Sultan Tekke sits serenely on the edge of the salt lake, where flamingos turn up in winter like clockwork.

Larnaca's got a subtle floral touch too. The salt lake surroundings are dotted with wild irises in spring, and oleander lines the roads into town. Local florists keep things fresh and simple, often favouring seasonal blooms with a bit of Mediterranean flair. You'll spot gerberas, lilies and freesias popping up in gift shops and wedding bouquets alike. It's the kind of place where flowers feel like part of everyday life – always in the background, always in bloom.
