Same day flowers in Nicosia
Stretching from the island's mountainous core right down into the capital, Nicosia District is a place of contrasts. You've got the buzz and bustle of the city itself, but just half an hour away, you're winding through sleepy villages and pine-scented hillsides. It's the only landlocked district in Cyprus, but don't let that fool you – there's no shortage of character.
The Troodos foothills fall within the district, dotted with vineyards, orchards and walking trails that lead to hidden chapels and cool forest pools. Villages, including the likes of Kakopetria and Fikardou provide a window into the past, with cobbled streets, stone houses and local delicacies that haven't changed much in generations.
Flowers here are shaped by the seasons. In spring, the hillsides erupt with wild orchids, anemones and crocuses. In town, florists know their craft – blending modern style with a nod to heritage. You'll see everything from smart bouquets for business receptions to floral crowns for village festivals.
Nicosia District holds a bit of everything – politics and poetry, olive groves and opera nights. It's Cyprus in miniature, and well worth exploring beyond the city streets.
