Quick Facts about Paralimni

Tucked inland but only a whisper from the sea, Paralimni is a town that quietly gets on with things. It might not have the glitz of the resorts nearby, but it's the beating heart of the Famagusta region – a place where Cypriot traditions still take centre stage. The main square's a lovely spot to linger, flanked by three churches, each with its own story to tell. And just beyond, you'll find sleepy backstreets, citrus groves and cafés where regulars know exactly how you like your coffee.

The town's roots are agricultural, and flowers have long had a role to play. Back in the day, Paralimni was known for its fig trees and fertile soil, and today you'll still find garden centres and florists serving the whole south-east corner of the island. Spring brings a natural display of poppies and wild daisies, while carnations, roses and lilies are favourites for everything from christenings to congratulations.

It's also one of the few places where flower stalls still open up next to bakeries and butchers – part of the everyday mix. Paralimni's not flashy, but it's full of care. The kind of place where a bunch of blooms still carries real meaning.
